A head-on collision can affect even the most seasoned professional driver.  In northwest Washington D.C. a wrong way driver has killed two people, reports police. A car collided with a dump truck head-on in Patrick County, Virginia (VA) sending two women to the hospital, Virginia State Police said.  A dump truck driver, who was heading west, hit the brakes and skid out of control and into the eastbound lanes hitting the victim’s car head on.

Commercial truck drivers spend their entire work day on the road.  Their only job is to drive from point A to point B.  Commercial drivers have a duty to drive more cautiously since their vehicles are much larger and dangerous than the general public.  Therefore when a terrible accident such as this occurs it is imperative to track down the proper trucking company that may be responsible.

I can’t image how terrified those two women must have been to see a huge dump truck come barreling across the median and crash into them.  Although head-on collisions are a somewhat rare type of car accident, consisting of only two percent of all vehicle crashes, one out of ten traffic accident victims dies because of a head-on crash. 

The two women in the car were both trapped in the vehicle and flown to the hospital with injuries to Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  At this point, no charges have been filed but the investigation is continuing.  I hope the two women receive the best care possible and their families find justice.

A dad took his son out for a ride on his motorcycle. As they traveled down Route 612 in Orange County, Virginia (VA) a truck turned onto the road and failed to see the oncoming motor bike. The two vehicles collided and the boy was killed. He was only 9 years old.

The father was transported to a University of Virginia Health System hospital and is currently receiving treatment for the injuries he suffered, according to the Washington Post.

This is a heartbreaking truck-motorcycle crash and my deepest condolences go out to the father. I have children as well and I would be devastated if I lost one of them in a sudden accident. It’s a pain that can’t really be described in words.

Unfortunately, many motor bike riders and loved ones of motor bike riders have to deal with a sudden loss in an accident. Over 5,000 people died in motorcycle accident deaths in the United States in 2007. That’s a 78 percent jump from 2000 when 2,897 people were killed in these types of wrecks, according to the Examiner.

There’s no word whether the at-fault truck driver will be charged. That may come after the accident is more thoroughly investigated by police.

When a vehicle malfunction occurs, the consequences can be devastating. This was the case on Interstate (I-85) South in Brunswick, Virginia (VA) when a tractor trailer that was carrying two people had a left front axle break. This caused the truck to run off the road and hit multiple trees.

Tragically, the two people in the trailer were killed when the vehicle burst into flames, according to NBC12.com. The burns were so bad that the bodies could not be immediately identified.

There are many questions that need to be answered about this terrible truck crash. What exactly caused the axle to malfunction? Could this problem extend to the model of tractor trailer involved in the wreck? We’ll have to wait and see what the accident investigation reveals.

I want to send my deepest condolences to the families of the two people killed in this truck accident. Losing someone close to you is never easy, but having it happen in such a sudden and terrible manner is heartbreaking.
